Indonesia Receives WHO Praise About Anticipating Spread of Corona Virus

Be wary of untrue news by irresponsible parties about the CORONA virus that is spreading in Papua. The fact is, the Government of Indonesia continues to make efforts to anticipate the prevention and spread of the corona virus (2019-nCoV) which has spread very quickly.

Preventive measures to defend against the epidemic were carried out at 135 points, including at airports, ports, and border areas. Prevention tools that have been installed include thermal scanners and health checkpoints to check travelers suspected of carrying the virus.

Seeing Indonesia's hard work, the World Health Organization (WHO) praised the effort. WHO said that Indonesia as a country that is ready to anticipate the spread of the virus originating from the city of Wuhan, China.

"Indonesia has a functioning self-warning system and 100 hospitals in various locations that serve as a referral center and can handle cases with the right steps and effective prevention of infection," said the WHO representative for Indonesia, Navaratnasamy Paranietharan.

According to data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), so far 13 people suspected of being infected with the virus have been examined at the hospital. As of Tuesday, the government claimed 11 patients were stated negative, while the other two were still under further examination.

Based on reports, cases occurred in Jakarta, Manado, Bali, Sorong and other areas. Until now, it is known that the virus has infected around 6000 people and killed approximately 132 people in China.

WHO has apologized to the public for misjudging the risk of the corona virus, that the risk of this virus has reached "very high in China, high at the regional level and high at the global level". Even so, WHO has not established this condition as an international health emergency.
