Papuan Student Group Declaration in the US

Around 200 Indonesian students from the provinces of Papua and West Papua who are studying in America, outside the United States (the Philippines, the United Kingdom and Canada), and Indonesia are attending international conferences in the United States. The conference titled "Golden Generation of Papua: Shine On" is the brainchild of the Forum of Papuan Youth and Scholar and the Papuan Student Association in the United States (IMAPA).

At the end of the Conference, young people jointly coined the "Los Angeles Papua Golden Generation Declaration" or the Los Angeles Declaration which emphasized, as follows:

1. Commit to unite and synergize in realizing an international forum of youth, students and scholars of the Land of Papua to advance Papua Human Resources who are reliable in facing global challenges and to develop the Land of Papua in all fields towards Indonesia as the 4th World Economic strength in 2045 .

2. Encouraging the movement of innovation and creativity, encouraging the active participation of the government and the private sector in supporting the young people of Tanah Papua so that they can make a real contribution to the sustainable development of Tanah Papua, Indonesia and the world.

3. Commitment to encourage the interest and entrepreneurial skills (Entrepreneurship Skills) of young Papuans, to be a solution for improving economic welfare and soft skills and hard skills in order to compete and be effective in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

4. Calling on all the Tanah Papua people to not be afraid to dream big and convey ideas, ideas openly and work hard to realize them for the benefit of the nation and state.

The conference discussed ideas and ideas and the role of Papuan youth in the fields of education, health, and economy for the Acceleration of Development in Eastern Indonesia as a priority for the Government of Indonesia under the leadership of Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

On December 21, 2019, the Conference will be continued with the IMAPA Student Organization Conference (MUSORMA). IMAPA MUSORMA's agenda is to formally form Papuan student organizations and the election of a new management in 2019-2021.
