PLN Papua completes construction of six power plants ahead of PON XX

PT PLN (Persero) the Papua and West Papua Regional Units (UIWP2B) have completed the construction of six power plants to support electricity ahead of the XX National Sports Week (PON) in 2020 at Bumi Cenderawasih.

PLN UIWP2B General Manager Ari Dartomo in Jayapura on Tuesday said six large-scale power plants whose construction had been completed and began operations in Papua were Jayapura Peaker Gas Engine (PLTMG) (40 Mega Watt), Biak 1 PLTMG (15 MW), PLTMG Biak 2 (10 MW), Merauke 1 PLTMG (20 MW), Merauke 2 PLTMG (20 MW) and Nabire 2 PLTMG (10 MW).

"The operation of the new power plants will increase the power or power supply so that the electricity system can be more reliable," he said. According to Ari, the additional power supply was sufficient to supply electricity needs for the location of the XX PON organizing and supporting matches.

"We are ready to help the success of PON XX in Papua in terms of electricity where PLN will supply electricity to venues using the existing system with a mobile generator backup," he said.

He explained that his party had strived to complete electricity in August PON XX venue in August 2020 and continue to contact PB PB for electricity readiness.
