So that the two provinces of Papua and West Papua are aligned with other provinces in the country, the Ministry of National Development Planning / National Development Planning Agency (PPN / Bappenas) is aiming at new ways and models to accelerate and improve the quality of development in the province.

"Bappenas seeks to formulate a Papuan development approach that respects local culture and wisdom," said Himawan Hariyoga (Secretary of the PPN Minister / Principal Secretary of Bappenas),

The government put forward the framework of special autonomy as an instrument of policy acceleration, affirmation, protection and empowerment of the people of Papua.
Various steps, he continued, have been taken for development in Bumi Cendrawasih, including adopting a Papua-based development planning approach based on indigenous areas and potential areas.

"We are aware of the cultural or social cultural approach to be an important dimension in designing sectoral and regional development," he added.

The government is committed to accelerating welfare development in Papua and West Papua, among others through Presidential Instruction Number 9 of 2017.
The acceleration, he said, was carried out thematically, holistically, integratively and spatially or THIS.

"Infrastructure is the backbone of moving the regional economy while increasing the reach of basic services to all regions in Papua," he concluded.
