138 Free Nusantara Wifi For Jayawijaya People

The people of Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Province received as many as 138 devices for free internet or Wifi Nusantara networks from the Ministry of Communication and Information in 2020.

Jayawijaya Isak Sawaki, Head of the Communication and Information Office, when met in Wamena, the capital of Jayawijaya Regency, said Sunday that the wifi procurement proposal had been made last year.

"In 2020 we have got an allocation of 138 wifi, hopefully in the near future it can be realized," he said. With the Wifi Nusantara device, he said, people in dozens of districts in Jayawijaya no longer have to go to the city just to access free internet.

"For the telephone they must look for Telkomsel. But if our internet service can be prepared through the Wifi Nusantara Program and it is free because all the direct dependents of the ministry," he said.

Jayawijaya Regency Government plans to install the free internet equipment in a number of village offices, district offices, schools and health centers. So that services to the community can be provided to the maximum.

In 2018 and 2019 the Director General of Public Communication Information (IKP) of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology also provided similar equipment to be installed and enjoyed by the public for free. "Until now there are only about eight districts that can access the internet, we have installed the device earlier, so the rest (32 remaining districts) we expect in 2020," said Isak Sawaki.
