TNI Requests PNG Entrance to be Closed

After the shootout, members of the Border Security Task Force (Satgas Pamtas) and the armed criminal group (KKB) in Keerom. The TNI coordinated with the Indonesian consulate in Papua New Guinea (PNG) to immediately close the door in and out of the border with RI because it was close to the location of the crossfire.

"Currently coordinating with the Indonesian consulate in PNG to close the RI-PNG exit," said Kapendam XVII / Cenderawasih Colonel CPL Eko Daryanto when asked for confirmation on Monday (12/30/2019).

He stressed, the request to close the entrance and exit at the border was carried out to prevent the perpetrators from escaping to PNG. The KKB shootout with the Sattas Pamtas in Keerom, Papua, resulted in one TNI member, Serda Miftachur Rohmat, being killed.

The shootout that occurred around 15 minutes at 10:30 CET also made one Prada soldier Juwandhy Ramadhan injured due to a gunshot wound to the right temple and left waist. The shootout with the KKB occurred with members of Infantry Battalion 713 / ST who were stationed at the Bewan Baru Post. The KKB group attacked when TNI members took logistics at the Kaliasin Post.
