The Head of the TNI Headquarters Information Center Major General Sisriadi explained the operation carried out by the TNI to eradicate the Armed Separatist Criminal Group (KKSB) in Papua had so far been only helping the police in law enforcement in the pursuit of the KKB.

Sisriadi said that the TNI had its own operation, namely securing the border between Papua and the State of Papua New Guinea. and the operation has been carried out by TNI personnel in the border areas between the two countries which are vulnerable to crime. And if the law enforcement operation in Papua is declared complete by the police, then TNI personnel will also stop conducting the operation.

"In Papua it is appropriate depending on the request of the police, the police say it is finished yes. Because we help the police in the context of law enforcement," he said.

Sisriadi also explained that TNI personnel always adhere to standard operational procedures when carrying out operations to eradicate KKSB in Papua with the police. He stated that the TNI had never acted brutally against the KKSB. This is because various operating standards have been provided for all TNI personnel in Papua.

"Because we are professionals, so all actions are measured through standard procedures. Law of engagment, we use human rights standards, so we don't go along with brutal, if brutal we don't need to be TNI, TNI is not brutal, TNI is professional," he said.

In addition, Sisriadi stressed that the party did not plan to add personnel in Papua following two TNI Army soldiers who were killed in Intan Jaya Regency, Papua, as a result of being attacked by the KKSB on Tuesday (17/12). He said the TNI was only deploying organic troops that already existed in each TNI Main Command throughout Papua.

"There are no [additions]. Use troops that have been deployed, both organic, Kodam, and who have been in strength for a long time, since a few months ago," he said

In addition, Sisriadi also said that the two dead Indonesian Army personnel would be given a posthumous promotion. The increase was automatically given by the TNI Headquarters if there were TNI personnel who were killed while on duty.
