The Bright Papua Program to Electronize Kokonao and Agimuga

Management of PT PLN (Persero) Customer Service Implementation Unit (UP3) Timika, Papua, strives to electrify the Kokonao region, the capital of the Western Mimika District and the Agimuga District in Mimika Regency, Papua.
.
PLN UP3 Manager Timika Hotman Ambarita in Timika said on Tuesday that the two coastal and interior districts of Mimika had been built for a long time (since 2017), but until now they have not enjoyed the lighting from PLN.
.
PLN Timika must relocate diesel generators from Atsi District, Asmat Regency to be brought to Kokonao and Agimuga. Until now, the two diesel relocation units from Atsi with a capacity of 100 kilowatts each are being repaired in Timika.
.
"There is some material we have to bring from outside Papua. If it has been repaired, we will immediately transport the two machines to Kokonao and Agimuga. We wish that we will push them before Christmas so that people can enjoy electricity during Christmas and Year celebrations. New, "explained Hotman.
.
Hotman said the village electricity in Kokonao and Agimuga was included in the Papua Bright Light Program in the Timika Area PLN region which included four districts namely Mimika, Asmat, Yahukimo and Nduga.
.
In addition to Kokonao and Agimuga, PLN Timika has electrified the Atuka region, the capital of the Central Mimika District since early November 2019. PLN Timika brought in a 100 kilowatt diesel generator from Manokwari to electrify the Atuka region.
.
At present, he said, Atuka residents can already enjoy electric lighting even though it is only six hours a day ie starting at 18:00 CET until 24.00 CET. "There cannot be 24 hours there because they have to add a new engine. The problem now is that there are difficulties in procuring new machines because PLN is now oriented to the utilization of renewable energy. This has resulted in the community having to wait more than two years to be able to enjoy electricity," explained Hotman.
.
In addition to the Mimika region, PLN will electrify nine points in the Asmat Regency using solar power. Some villages in Mimika that also enjoy solar electricity lighting such as Fakafuku Village in Agimuga District, Keakwa I and II Villages and Aikawapuka Village in Central Mimika District.
