Former President of Timor Leste, Jose Ramos Horta said he would never agree to the Papuan people's struggle for independence. He will continue to support Papua as part of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

"Our policy (Timor Leste), continues to support the integration of Papua in the Republic of Indonesia. We have never supported groups of struggle, both at home and abroad who voiced independence," said Ramos Horta.

Ramos who was directly involved in the struggle for independence for East Timor (now called East Timor) said that Papua had become part of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, for that there was nothing more to question.

"Maybe it can be conveyed to me, if there is a group from us (Timor Leste) who supports the statement or voiced independent Papua, show me later, I pay Rp1 billion," he said.

Ramos also stated that he was impressed with the progress of Papua in the era of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"I am very impressed with what I have seen, various progress continues to be achieved by Papua. Under the policy of President Jokowi, who freed anyone who entered Papua was very good and not as strict as before, and this is what I am experiencing at this time," he continued.

Ramos also praised, related to the achievement of Human Resources (HR) Papua which has increased thanks to the development that continues to be encouraged by the Indonesian government.

"Papua's human resources have become more advanced, there are Papuan pilots, there is General Fredy Numberi. My advice, Papuan children must learn and study, which earlier could not be able and could be successful. Because with higher education, Papua could build beyond Bali or Java, "said Ramos Horta.
