3,500 Teachers Ready to Build Papua

3,500 Teachers Ready to Build Papua

The Jokowi-JK government, from the beginning, paid great attention to development in Papua. Nawacita's Vision-Mission clearly mentions the commitment to "build from the periphery" and "increase the construction of various production facilities, education, health, traditional markets and others in rural, remote and disadvantaged areas."
.
Education is one of the benchmarks of the progress of a nation's civilization. How a nation plans, runs and evaluates its educational programs, all of which will make it superior in the long run. Papua is no exception, education is one of the keys to developing and prospering the people of Papua.
.
The Frontline Teacher Program (GGD) is one of the government's efforts to overcome the education problems that occur in Papua. The program is run by the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) in collaboration with the Ministry of Administrative Reform and Bureaucracy Reform (KemenPANRB) and local governments. The aim is to equalize educational services throughout Indonesia, through the distribution of teaching staff or teachers.
.
President Jokowi has said that the government's target in the future is the equal distribution of education services in all regions of Indonesia. The government wants education services in Western, Central and Eastern Indonesia to have the same quality. "Do not let an imbalance and inequality occur, which is what we do not want," said the President when giving a speech at the Release of Frontline Teachers at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Monday, May 25, 2015.
.
The GGD program is a breakthrough program from the government in order to improve and create quality equal distribution of educators. Through this program the government allocated 3,500 teachers to be placed in Papua and West Papua, as well as Aceh and Maluku. They will replace middle and high school graduates who are still scattered in various rural areas. Their status is also a Candidate for Civil Servants (CPNS) local government, not registered with the Ministry of Education and Culture. Thus, their commitment is expected to be stronger in developing their own regions.
.
To the GGD participants, President Jokowi appealed to provide good mental character education to his students. Children from remote or border areas must have pride in Indonesia. "They are Indonesian children who in the future can work in all regions in Indonesia from Sabang to Merauke," the President said.
.
Specifically for Papua, in addition to the GGD program, the government also continued the Secondary Education Affirmation (ADEM) program. which is an affirmative program for young Papuans and West Papuans to continue their education in a number of areas such as Java and Bali.
